The Guestbook
Here's a useful tip if you're travelling with a baby - ask for a deluxe double in the Garden Wing as these are much bigger than the ones in the main building. Loads of room for baby to crawl around and explore without getting into too much trouble. Initially, we got put in a very nice double above reception but found it just too impractical for a ten-month-old.

We were very happy with our stay at Fowey Hall. The hotel was very well laid out with plenty of well-kept garden for the kids to run around. The pool and trampoline were the favourite activities for them and the grown-ups. Dinner was great, set up so the kids could eat with you and then wander off to the playroom while we ate ours. The staff were also friendly and helpful. The hot tub looked a bit unloved with no proper cover on it, just a bit of ply board, and in the shade from lunchtime onwards. The village itself made you feel as though you had left England, in a good way. Make sure you book restaurants in advance, as they get busy.

Had a wonderful stay at Fowey Hall with my husband and our little one. My son absolutely loved the trampoline, swimming pool, play equipment and chickens in the garden. We loved the luxurious surroundings, amazing food and the ability to relax, knowing the staff and other guests were there because they have, or are able to put up with, children. We loved little Readymoney Cove (the town's beach), nosing around Fowey of course, and the Eden Project. We had a lovely fish supper at The Other Place on the harbour. A fantastic stay.

A short walk from Fowey Hall in a downhill direction is the stunning and quiet Readymoney Cove (lovely in the early morning). The holiday home of Daphne Du Maurier is there and it is a perfect spot to get the sea air. Also there is a crab pool and the most stunning view of Polruan and the town of Fowey. A highly recommended detour from Fowey.

The Fowey to Polruan Ferry was a highlight of our wonderful stay in this Cornish idyll. If you don't have seafaring legs don't worry, it is more a leisurely boat trip than a cross channel experience and well worth it as the views are amazing.

Amazing hotel – definitely have dinner in the old dining room hall. Staff were amazing, incredibly polite and attentive. Fowey Hall is a real find.

Anyone staying in Fowey, MUST visit Sams in town and it's sister restaurant Sams on the Beach in Polkerris which is 5 mins drive / 15min walk from the hotel....

The hotel was fantastic and one of the highlights was the beautiful jacuzzi overlooking fowey bay! Other highlights of our trip were 'The Well House Restaurant' at Liskeard, a beautiful property with a fantastic 3 red rosette restaurant which served delicious food. Also our trip to St Mawes was great although it was about an hours drive it was totally worth it to stroll along the harbour walls of this quaint village.

While meandering through the quaint little town of Fowey we stumbled upon a fabulous little deli/restaurant called Tiffins. Very tastefully decorated serving wonderful cakes and local snacks downstairs while the restaurant upstairs open day and night serves delicious food in an inviting environment. The moules dishes are particularly heartwarming on a chilly day.

We ate in the town Saturday night at The Toll Bar (1 Lostwithiel Street) – a real surprise. The restaurant opens out at the back of the bar. The food was delicious and satisfying – we both opted for fish dishes – well presented and served by friendly staff. Our three-course meal with a bottle of wine and coffee was in the region of £80 for two and worth every penny. On Sunday we ate at Food for Thought on the quay: the asparagus starter was crunchy-beautiful and the locally sourced crab cakes very tasty. We both went for the roast pork which was an amazing joint of meat cooked to perfection and full of flavour – the crackling couldn't be faulted. Both these restaurants were in our opinion superior to Hansons restaurant at Fowey Hall where we ate Friday night.
The staff at Fowey Hall hotel were excellent; however, for us, two negative comments would be the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room, and the advance allocation of breakfast tables.
