Built in 1899 by the designer of the entrance to Tivoli, Avenue Hotel has been radically reinvented as a showcase of Danish design, with Missoni fabrics adding refreshing pops of colour, a pewter-topped leather-lined bar adding sparkle to the cosy lounge, and original works from Denmark’s famous photographers displayed throughout.

Food and drink at Avenue Hotel

• Hotel restaurant There's no restaurant as such, but there is a menu of bar snacks including hot food and cold nibbles. A homemade cake or two might also tempt you.
• Dress code Clean-lined casual.
• Top table Either in prime people-watching position by the window, or a seat in the centre by the bakery table to ensure you don’t miss the latest arrivals form the kitchen.
• Last orders The bar and the kitchen close at midnight.
• Hotel bar A gentle soundtrack of jazz and chill-out permeates the air of the hotel lounge, the ideal spot to ease out of the city buzz and enjoy some serious sofa time.
