The Guestbook

The stay at Anna Hotel was magnificent. The room was huge and the LED light show in the shower was an amusing touch. The food at the Anna Hotel was spectacular for dinner. The hotel is brilliantly located with everything within walking distance. Highly recommended.

Try one of Schuhbeck's restaurants (Bistro or Südtiroler Stuben) to experience the cuisine of the famous TV chef.

Hire a car (there is a car rental office virtually next to the hotel) and drive to the Bavarian Alps, an enjoyable 1.5 hours' drive away. Lunch in Füssen before visiting the magical Neuschwanstein Castle. Relax afterwards by hiring a rowing boat and swimming in the nearby lake.

With a U-Bahn stop a mere stumble from the front door and with the Tower Suites looking straight down Neuhauserstrasse toward Marienplatz you couldn't be closer to the highlights of Munich. A visit in December to experience the Christmas Markets cannot be recommended highly enough. I defy anyone to retain any Scrooge-like tendencies after wandering among the myriad stalls and sampling the various Bavarian delights on offer. The outdoor ice rink at Karlsplatz is a great place to while away an evening sipping Glühwein, whether or not you drum up the courage to don any skates.

The tasting menu at Tantris is also highly recommended, though we strongly suggest you avoid too many visits to the wurst stands of the Christkindlmarkt if you aren't to burst before the petit fours. I'd suggest anyone with bad memories of German wine, inspired by Blue Nun and Black Tower, to allow the sommeliers to show you what German vintners really are capable of.

If the thought of battling the tourist hordes in the Hofbräuhaus is offputting, then drop into the Augustiner Bräu on Neuhauserstrasse for a better taste of Bavarian hospitality.
