The Guestbook
This was the perfect hotel choice to celebrate my boyfriend's 40th birthday. Firstly for location, it’s right smack in the middle of Manhattan, this gave us easy access to literally everywhere we wanted to go. That is, if we could tear ourselves away from the brilliant service and luxury of the hotel. Achingly cool, the hotel bar appears to be the place to be seen in the evenings, so we had to show our room cards to jump the queue. The food was gorgeous, the bar staff were great fun, and there was a good stock of cocktails and wines. Also, the cleaner even left us a Happy Birthday note. The room was spacious and well stocked. We even got to test a chrome book for free. We would highly recommend Ace Hotel New York, especially the home-baked breakfast muffins.

Really, the Breslin is as good as a bar gets. Really fun, cool crowd, excellent food and inventive drinks. But I also visited Apotheke in Chinatown and that was amazing, and I bought snacks at Momofuku Milk Bar and Peanut Butter & Company.

Ace Hotel - Ace Location.
The pub inside the hotel serves amazing Breslin Burgers perfect for the post-been out celebrating with too many NY cocktails-morning feeling. And the coffee shop (Stumptown) also attached to the hotel serves coffee to die for - the queues inside the hotel lobby say it all.
Further afield, but still within easy walking distance, hit Madison Park on 22nd and 5th for a visit to Shake Shack right in the centre of the park and then cross the road to Eleven (on Madison Park Ave) for some of the best cocktails I have ever tasted and the food looked good too.
Thing is you can't really go wrong in New York and this list could be never ending. Enjoy!

Great hotel, fab atmosphere. Went for the cheap room but it was still a perfect size for a weekend in New York when you are out and about all the time anyway – for the time we were in the room there was an amazing view of the Empire State Building framed by our window. Bar downstairs in the lobby was so buzzing and the coffee shop did lush coffee. Can't imagine staying anywhere else now on visits to NYC.

The Ace hotel is without doubt the coolest and, with the rate I got from Mr and Mrs smith, the most affordable. Amazing restaurant, best coffe bar in town and a relaxed environment in the bar.

Absolutely fantastic. Great service and a throughly memorable stay. A truly unique experience and a lively engaging crowd in the evening downstairs. Also its location is brilliant. Nowhere is too far away; you're right in the middle of everything.

Fantastic hotel, very well designed – an old building with an industrial feel. Clearly fast becoming a destination venue in New York, with the bar and breakfast attracting large crowds. The staff did a great job in making everything comfortable and easy during our stay.

A fabulous hotel with great service – thank you Mr & Mrs Smith! One of the highlights I can't stop telling people about is the recently opened High Line walkway. A disused railway raised above the streets of the trendy meat-packing district that elevates you above the bustling beautiful busyness of the streets. I found this to be a calming opportunity to amble amoung naturally seeded flowers and enjoy wonderful views of the Hudson, Empire State, Liberty and other architecture whilst it all happens below you! And convieniently the kind and clever people of New York City have furnished the route with tasteful seating and tasty take-away coffee in case you missed the exceptional antipodean-style coffee bar in the Ace Hotel Lobby. Heaven.

Very close to the Empire State. If you are on the road side of the hotel, there is no double glazing and you need ear plugs to sleep as the road is not quiet. It's a fun place to stay in terms of decor and feel - especially the lobby.

The hotel was superb. Nearby, try Waldy's (+1 212 213 5042) for pizza – really quick and great tasting wood-oven baked pizza.

This is not really close to the Ace Hotel, but while there last week I had a fantastic dinner at La Sirene, a little French bistro at 558 Broome Street.
