MELBOURNE: Marketing Assistant
Mr & Mrs Smith is looking for a bright new star to join the marketing team in our Melbourne office, located in a warehouse conversion off Flinders Lane. We are passionate about travel and style and are dedicated to promoting our global boutique hotel collection across the Asia-Pacific region.
Working with the Head of Marketing, Asia-Pacific, the role involves delivering creative communication campaigns across Australia, New Zealand and core Asian markets, such as Singapore and Hong Kong. Key areas of activity and responsibility include:
- Execution of brand and media partnership campaigns
- Delivering the CRM e-communications programme
- Managing our online store merchandising and fulfilment
As part of a small team, you’ll have the chance to be hands-on and take on responsibility for some key marketing projects. You should be able to work autonomously, multi-task and be a reliable, super-positive team player. You must enjoy a challenging, fast-paced environment that requires working remotely with international partners across the Asia-Pacific and stakeholders in the UK and US.
Desired skills:

- Project management, including the ability to handle stakeholders and deadlines
- Ability to prioritise your time autonomously
- An understanding of new technology and some experience with internal CMS, database and reporting systems

Qualifications and experience:
- 1–2 years marketing campaign management in a marketing team or a creative agency
- A Bachelor degree in Business, Marketing or Communications
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Social-media, online and new technology savvy
- A basic knowledge of Photoshop would also be an advantage

MELBOURNE: Hotel Partnerships Manager
(Maldives, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Myanmar, Singapore, Japan)
OTE $60,000 plus SGC
Mr & Mrs Smith, the boutique hotel specialist and award-winning travel club, is looking for a dynamic and persuasive Hotel Partnerships Manager to join its Melbourne team. The ideal candidate will take a leading role in curating a collection of the world’s most stylish and unique hotels and self-catering properties, with sole responsibility for more than 150 hotels in Asia-Pacific territories.
The main aims of the role are to manage the expansion of the Smith collection in the Asia-Pacific region, and to increase revenues for existing Smith properties. There are four key parts to the Manager role within the Hotel Partnerships department:
1. Visiting and acquiring new hotels and self-catering properties within your territories in Asia-Pacific (an average of 50 properties a year)
2. Renewing Smith contracts for all properties within your territories
3. Maintaining close relationships with your properties and ensuring they make the most of the Smith opportunities available. You will liaise with other departments at Mr & Mrs Smith to maximise a hotel’s involvement through marketing initiatives, press, social media, etc
4. Acting as Smith properties’ main point of contact for everything excluding bookings
The ideal candidate will have:
• A ‘people’s person’ demeanour and natural negotiation skills
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
• 2–3+ years’ experience in a managerial sales position within the hotel industry (contacts a plus)
• An instinctive understanding of the Smith brand and the types of properties we consider for the Smith collection
• The ability to travel regularly
• A problem-solving attitude and the ability to thrive in a deadline-driven environment
• The capacity to remain calm under pressure and in intense meeting situations
• A mature, professional outlook, and good team skills
• A quick mind, a high level of organisation and the ability to learn
• A well-presented manner and a cultured personality
• Foreign languages in associated territories (a plus, but not essential)

LONDON: Internships at Mr & Mrs Smith
Mr & Mrs Smith has ongoing internship programmes for UK residents in a number of departments at our London office, and we’re always interested in hearing from bright, motivated and travel-savvy students and graduates eager to dip their toes in the boutique-hotel world.
Placements are available in the following departments:
Hotel Partnerships
The Hotel Partnerships team are the gatekeepers of the Smith hotel collection, researching new boutique escapes and responsible for maintaining relationships with the current collection. We have an eight-week placement available for a hardworking and focused individual interested in picture editing. You will work closely with our picture editor to update our hotel image library, gaining insight into the select hotels that feature in the collection. Online marketing
Our busy online marketing department is looking for interns who can commit to a minimum of two months, either full-time or part-time. Working at the vangard of marketing technology, you'll be assisting with our global paid-search accounts, as well as undertaking research and competitor analysis. This internship will give you a broad understanding of key online marketing channels and insight into how successful campaigns are built. We need someone who isn't afraid of spreadsheets and working with data, and the internship would be perfect for someone looking to forge a career in this exciting and rapidly growing area.
Travel Team
This internship, lasting two to three months, gives you the chance to work alongside our boutique hotel experts, at the frontline of Mr & Mrs Smith. You will be representing our brand to our members, assisting with taking calls, be actively involved with our online booking service, delivering our highly regarded after-sales service, and making sure every detail is taken care of so that our members are guaranteed the perfect Smith stay.
Editorial
We're interested in hearing from bright, web-savvy would-be wordsmiths with an interest in travel and ambitions to work in journalism and web and print publishing. Interns will be with our four-strong editorial team full-time for two weeks, assisting with the creation of insider travel content for our website and travel blog, and learning about all aspects of writing and editing. An English degree would be highly beneficial, and any experience subbing or proofreading would be useful – as would familiarity with WordPress or similar software.
Marketing, PR and sales
This internship is a full-time placement lasting two months, intended to give you a comprehensive overview of the way in which different parts of the company interact and an insight into our marketing orientation.This role will involve all aspects of the marketing department, including scanning and logging press, identifying press opportunities and keeping press contacts up-to-date, as well as working with images for website and press pieces. You'll be assisting with all ongoing projects, including brand partnerships, our membership scheme and high-profile promotions, and working on the sales of our hotel guidebooks.
Membership and marketing
We are looking for an enthusiastic, team-playing type who's keen to join Smith's membership and marketing department for two to three months. The internship is likely to make use of your communication skills, both written and verbal, and will involve assisting members with enquiries and ensuring they’re well looked after. You’ll build upon your high level of office skills, gain an insight into how Mr & Mrs Smith’s successful membership scheme is managed and marketed, and develop an understanding of the way in which other departments interact with both our team and our customers. We’re always keen to hear from enthusiastic students and graduates who have an interest in travel and are looking to break into the fields of marketing, PR, journalism and publishing.
Placements are currently available in the following departments:
PR & marketing
We’re looking for a motivated intern to work with us on a full-time placement for a minimum of two months. This exciting role will involve working closely with our marketing and PR departments and would best suit someone with stellar written and verbal communication skills. Tasks will include updating press contacts, compiling press clippings, sourcing images for the web and print features, and general travel industry research. You will also assist with ongoing projects involving our brand partnerships, including our prestigious events, high-profile promotions, membership schemes and the sales of our hotel guidebooks.
Editorial
The search is on for a savvy intern with a flair for writing and web-based publishing to assist our editorial department. This placement is available ideally for two days a week, over two to three months, and will offer a great introduction to the world of boutique hotels, travel writing and both print and online editing. You’ll assist our team of two with a variety of tasks, including researching and fact-checking insider travel content, providing administrative support and writing short pieces for press and our award-winning website. An English, journalism or communications degree would be highly beneficial, as would familiarity with InDesign and WordPress or similar software.
Hotel partnerships
We are on the hunt for a motivated applicant for the newly created Hotel Partnerships intern position on a part-time placement for a minimum of two months. This exciting role will involve working closely with our Hotel Relations department and would best suit someone who is detail-focussed, tech-confident, and interested in gaining insight into the travel industry. Tasks will include destination and hotel research, trip planning and administrative support. You will also have the chance to assist the team with marketing/PR communications, data analysis and reporting.
