This historic stone building in Mintaro was a cobblers way back in 1856, but these days it’s a winery outlet and pretty good eatery, serving artistically prepared Mod Oz (try the rabbit terrine). There’s an organic vegetable garden out the back which keeps the kitchen infused with vitamins and minerals. Open for long lunches.

Citadel
A mix of sit-down pizza café and swinging-door takeaway, the Citadel makes the best pizza within miles, with pasta and meat dishes on the menu too. If the sun’s out, head for the veranda (which converts to an outdoor cinema on summer evenings). Lunch and dinner daily, plus breakfast on weekends.
