La Residence
Located an hour outside the city, La Residence
is a boutique retreat nestled among Africa’s oldest vineyards. Originally a family house, the hotel has only five suites, and keeps the feel of an intimate guesthouse. Huge gilded mirrors, scented floral bouquets in oversized urns, exotic rugs, luxurious soft furnishings, elegant European antiques, and sophisticated crystal and silverware at every turn give it a quality befitting of its star-studded guestbook. Guests who book the property on an exclusive basis – rock stars Bono and Elton John have both holidayed at La Residence – can expect their own private chef, butler and chauffeur.

Kensington Place
Kensington Place is Cape Town’s original boutique bolthole, located on the leafy slopes of Table Mountain, a stroll from all the restaurants and bars of Kloof Street, and a drive from amazing beaches. There are eight available rooms at the hotel, each individually decorated. Some bedrooms enjoy an incredible sweeping view of the city down to the ocean. Amenities include a solar-heated pool, free wireless Internet, in-room spa treatments; the attention to detail stretches to extras such as a beach bag and towel for every guest and bottles of sun cream by the plunge pool. There is a restaurant and a bar, room service is available and the hotel bar is open 24 hours.

Les Cascades
The Indonesian-accented cliffside retreat Les Cascades can be found perched over the exclusive neighbourhood of Bantry Bay. There are ten rooms in the main lodge, and four in the villa, which includes breakfast and taxes. All are equipped with flatscreen plasma/satellite TVs, and DVD and CD players, but the rooms in the main lodge could be described as more luxurious and tend to attract older guests, whereas the villa rooms are cheaper and more modern, appealing to a younger clientele. One of the highlights of the hotel is that it enjoys an ornamental infinity pool, a very large saltwater pool and another freshwater infinity pool. Fantastic dinners are also available, which can be enjoyed on the terrace most of the year, since Bantry Bay is sheltered from the Cape’s notorious winds.
