Eating and DrinkingChalet Valpierre’s chef prepares breakfast and afternoon tea daily and serves delicious gourmet diners on six nights a week. There’s a Perrier Jouët Champagne reception upon your arrival and there’s also a well-stocked open bar and wine cellar. Supermarket: The nearest large supermarket is in Bourg Saint Maurice but you are unlikely to require much given the level of service here. The Spar in the centre of town near the Tourism Office has a surprisingly good deli counter and an impressive selection of regional and international wines.
Deli: There’s a weekly market every Monday in the centre of Val d’Isère. It sells everything from ski gear to jewellery but is also a good place to browse for excellent Savoyarde meats and cheeses.
The chalet has four staff including a chalet manager and a professional chef who prepares breakfast and afternoon tea every day as well as gourmet evening meals on six nights a week. This arrangement leaves you an evening to try some of the excellent local restaurants if you wish. There’s Perrier Jouët champagne with canapés every night and Valpierre has an open bar and fine wine cellar. In-chalet massage, yoga, beauty treatments and personal trainers can all be organised. Chalet Valpierre also has a chauffeur-driven 4x4 at your disposal.
HousekeepingHousekeeping is provided by your chalet staff.
ChildrenWelcome. Bedrooms 1, 3 and 4 are most suitable for cots. Everything, including high chairs, children’s cutlery and tailor-made menus, are provided. Toys, sledges, games, books, CDs, DVDs and videos are on hand. Qualified nannies can be arranged, too.
EntertainmentThere’s a CD/DVD player in the living room and another in the mezzanine TV lounge. The chalet has an iPod docking station and the master bedroom also has a CD/DVD player.
ProvidedBed linen, towels, feather pillows, bathrobes and Jo Malone toiletries. Newspapers and flowers are delivered daily. The staff have even provided packs of energy bars and sun cream for the slopes. The chalet has four staff and a chauffeur-driven 4x4.
Packing tipsIf you’re driving your own vehicle to the resort at the height of the season you will almost certainly need snow chains.
Booking processA deposit of 25 per cent is required to secure your booking, with the balance due 56 days before arrival. Cancellations incur a charge of at least 25 per cent. Cancellations less than 14 days before arrival receive no refund.
