Interior
Bedrooms
Bedroom 1: This king double is bright and spacious, with large mirrored wardrobes providing plenty of storage space and views of the garden, it has an en-suite wet room where one can stand under an enormous shower head surrounded by slate tiles
Bedroom 2: This twin just off of the master bedroom has two single beds and would be perfect for small children, particularly as the décor is a little more plain than the double rooms. You can enter through the master or from a door at the front of the property. There is a shared bathroom with a toilet, shower and sink. There’s also another tiny room off here which would be perfect for a nanny or a cot.
Bedroom 3: On the first floor is a fabulous double bedroom overlooking the garden below. Its adjoining glass-fronted bathroom has a freestanding tub and shower.
Bedroom 4: There is a double bedroom separate to the main house which feels like a private guesthouse, accessed from the garden up its own flight of stairs. It has an impressive ensuite slate toilet with a wet room and views of the garden, swimming pool and surrounding countryside.
Bedroom 5: This is usually the office overlooking the lounge but it has a magnificent Balinese double bed; access is through another bedroom and shares their bathroom. This would have to be the room for whoever is last to bed first to rise and someone who’s comfortable tiptoeing through their neighbour’s room if they need the loo in the night.
Kitchen This fully equipped contemporary kitchen has been designed cleverly as the hub of this sociable house, flowing through to the dining room, opening out onto the front garden, and with great views of the rock pool. Sleek, spacious and bright, there are gas hobs, electric oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and plenty of central worktop space for meal preparations and for snacking at the counter.
Living room Through the stone arches of the dining room you’ll find a cosy lounge dominated by a huge open fireplace and beautifully upholstered antique sofas. A glass chandelier injects added boutique hotel-style personality into this grand but homely abode. A flatscreen TV and Bose speakers give the villa added audio-visual gravitas.
Dining room Just off the kitchen, a huge bespoke glass dining table seats eight on Indonesian chairs and in a room that opens out into the lounge. A custom-built iron staircase leads to two bedrooms above.
Other There is a separate laundry room with a washer and a dryer.
Outdoor
Poolside The swimming pool looks more like a natural rock pool with trickling water. Fantastic for families, there’s a shallow edge perfect for teaching less confident little ones to swim. The loungers on the terrace can be sun-catching or shaded.
Gardens Palm trees, evergreens and brightly petalled flowers have been beautifully landscaped to complement the sprawling lawn that leads your eyes to a mountainscape far in the distance.
Parking There’s space for three cars.
Other There is an outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and bar area on the terrace.

Activities
Best beaches
Puro beach in Palma is best for hip Riviera-style lounging, about 20 minutes drive away. For quieter shores, find your own rocky cliff on the islets in the western part of Palma Bay.
Best walks
There are beautiful walks around the glamorous village of Deià. There are free walking tours around the old town of Alcúdia, where you'll be guided through the winding streets and told stories about the Moorish, Byzantine and Roman histories of this beautiful area. The local tourist office begins a tour every Wednesday at noon.
Activities
The imposing Gothic cathedral, Sa Seu, dominates Palma’s skyline. For modern-day eye candy, the Es Baluard museum, on Plaça Porta de Santa Catalina, has exhibitions showcasing works by Picasso and Dalí (www.esbaluard.org). The 10th-century Arab baths in Palma are a rare reminder of the Moorish period of Mallorca’s history. There’s no bathing these days, but you can see the underground chambers and relax in the flower-filled courtyard. Santa Maria is a pretty municipality, just 15 minutes from Palma’s nightlife and Inca’s shopping outlets and perfect for an afternoon’s exploring. Stroll through the historic centre to Casa de la Vila, the 17th-century town hall, or admire the baroque parish church, with its beautiful tiled campanile.

This restaurant is a 25-minute drive from the hotel, set in a tiny rustic village surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. It’s run by a wonderful bohemian French couple, who split their time between Asia and Mallorca. The food reflects this blend of East and West: expect delicious French cuisine with Asian influences. The shaded terrace is the perfect off-the-beaten-track location for a lazy afternoon.

Es Verger
+34 971 182 126
Eat in Alaro’s ruined castle, a 15-minute drive away, at this basic but belly-pleasing traditional restaurant, famous for its slow-cooked lamb plucked from huge olive wood fires and ovens. The steep hill leading up to the castle requires either a 4x4 or strong calf muscles and since opening times can vary greatly, it’s best to call in advance.

Luxurious, eclectic furnishings indlude an Indonesian carved-wooden bed and a white-and-gold Louis XV chaise longue
Review
This hip Mallorcan house is no slouch when it comes to chic, showcasing statement design features in a modern farmhouse-style property without detracting from its instantly relaxing make-yourself-at-home atmosphere.
Traditional stone walls and polished oak floors are a striking rustic backdrop to luxurious, eclectic furnishings such as an Indonesian carved-wooden bed and a white-and-gold Louis XV chaise longue. Little wonder Can Phuket is a favourite for photoshoots. A homely yet style-drenched villa that has been cleverly designed to incorporate shiny glass, distressed wood, reclaimed iron, sumptuous velvets polished steel topped off with Philippe Starck-esque embellishments in its convivial layout. Our favourite Smith & Friends combination: boutique-hotel chic combined with intimate self-catering independence.
Set amid glorious bougainvillea-studded gardens, the splendour of the Bali-meets-Baleares living space spills out into an enticing barbecue-boasting open-air bar and kitchen. Just north of Palma, 20 minutes from the airport, this vacation rental may not have a beach on its lap, but the stunning water feature which doubles as a child-friendly swimming pool means guests of all ages should be happy to stay put in these pretty palm-fringed foliage-filled grounds. If wanderlust creeps in, you are five minutes from the sweet town of Santa Maria, a short drive from the cathedral and galleries of Palma, and as this is an island blessed with a magnificent coastline, beaches are accessible in every direction.
