There is a super-stylish outdoor dining area and barbecue, plus a dining table in the kitchen – and another in the living room. If you arrange it before you arrive, Deliciously Sorted will go shopping for you and pre-fill the fridge with all your favourite things. It is not possible to have a chef here though.

A cot, high chair and toys are available on request. Note: the stairs to the master bedroom are open-sided, and the pool is not overlooked by the villa, so children must be able to swim.
Music
Professional DJ system and iPod docking station in the living room that operates around the house. There is also a stereo in the master bedroom. Living room The hub of the house, the stylish-but- comfortable living room has a working fireplace that’s ideal for winter holidays and sliding doors that lead out onto the gardens. There is also an outdoor living room – a white chill-out area to the back of the house with billowing white curtains, sofas and a hanging wicker chair.
Dining room The outdoor dining area seats 10–12 people under a shady white sail. The homely dining table on the side of the kitchen, which opens onto the courtyard, seats six.
Other There is an outdoor utility room with washer and dryer, but you can arrange for your laundry to be done at no extra charge.

Poolside The beautiful lawn-fringed square pool has a teak diving board and teak sun loungers, and a child-friendly shallow end.
Gardens Despite its numerous lawns and shady areas, the garden has a secluded feel to it. The area that contains the sun loungers and thick white mattresses is a great spot for lunch.

Best picnic spot
Why not take the ferry from Ibiza Town harbour to the island of Formentera – just south of Ibiza? Ferries leave every 15 minutes – you can just turn up – and take one hour. Pack a picnic (contact your concierge to arrange this) and rent a bike.
Best beaches
Benirras beach is the closest; it’s a chilled-out hippy beach and fantastic spot to watch the sunset. Follow the signs from St Mateo or St Joan. North-coast Cala d’en Serra near Portinatx is a well-kept secret. Aguas Blancas on the northeast coast has a great chiringuito serving caipirinhas and steak sandwiches. Cala Jondal in the east is beloved for its seafood restaurants.

Tick ‘ramble through the pine forest on my doorstep’ off your to-do-list, or go horse riding – there are three places from which to get cantering nearby. Ask for details when you are shown around the house. Hire a 4x4 and take to the dirt tracks that criss-cross the pine forests in the north of the island. There’s limitless opportunity for golf, sailing, water-skiing, windsurfing, diving, horse-riding, go-karting and hot-air balloon trips, too. Speak to Deliciously Sorted to arrange.

Planes Iberia, British Airways and EasyJet all fly into Ibiza airport, which is about five miles southwest of Ibiza Town. Direct flights take a little over two hours from the UK. (There are no direct flights from the UK during November to March.) If you’re not hiring a car, taxis from the rank outside the airport are metred and reasonable (around €10 for the trip to Ibiza Town).

Review
After dark, Moroccan candles around the pool flicker dramatically alongside creeping fairy lights, up-lit cacti and ambient lighting. The air is warm, the forest is still; the effect is magical. Billowing white curtains flutter next to sofas in the outdoor living room, whilst the aroma of a barbecue floats through the air, along with music from the house. Homely and comfortable, yet cutting-edge stylish, Sa Prunera is the perfect secluded-but-sociable forest retreat.
The master bedroom really sets itself apart from the three bedrooms in the house, which is why this 120-year-old finca is ideal for a couple with kids – or for friends who don’t mind watching two of their number bag by far the best room. A large, modern space, it boasts a huge suntrap terrace with lounge curtains across the front and comfortable white seats, a walk-in wetroom, which offer teeth-brushers great views of the pool, and a huge dressing room with a hidden terrace that’s ideal for secret sunset-spotting.
The owner is an artist, so expect to see lots of creative ideas to steal and recreate once you’re at home. Toe-refreshingly polished grey concrete floors run under old Ibizan antiques (look out for the 250-year-old chest), while orchids and bamboo tangle with unique pieces of African art.
The living room – containing huge daybeds just made for lolling on, a slate-grey fireplace that guests love to stoke during cosy winter breaks, olive-green feature walls and sliding doors that lead to the garden – is the hub of the house. But why hang out inside? Life at Sa Prunera revolves around sunshine: the outdoor living area to the back of the house has floaty white curtains and a hanging wicker chair, whilst the outside dining room under the shade of a hanging sail is a wonderful spot for fresh coffee and croissants, or a barbecue. Take a walk round to the pool, and you’ll see that even the teak ‘catwalk’ diving board has cushions – ideal should you want to dive into a poolside cocktail session.
Surrounded by pine trees and perched on a hillside, Sa Prunera feels like an exclusive retreat treat. Secluded, yet just a short drive from the island’s action hubs; minimalist, yet beautifully cosy; spacious, yet with only three bedrooms – this finca is a mass of glamorous contradictions and surprises. And that’s what makes this vacation rental so drop-dead stylish and special.
