Roca Llisa, Ibiza
La Divina
- Style
- Cubist bliss
- Setting
- Above the pine trees, looking out to sea
Cubist cool on the outside, with a whisper of Bali on the inside, La Divina is the only two-bedroom villa in Ibiza to be sealed with the Smith kiss of approval. Beds are draped with white muslin, while huge wooden furniture pieces break up spaces large enough to cartwheel in. What with its irresistible infinity pool – and not forgetting the 20ft home cinema (how could you?) – this tranquil villa really is as divine as it looks.

Best picnic spot
Head to one of the following beaches with some food, then lie back and thoroughly spoil yourself. Ask your concierge service Deliciously Sorted to arrange a hamper for you.
Best beaches
Roca Llisa beach is just a short drive down the hill from La Divina. It’s a small bay in which rock formations that look like people stand between you and Formentera in the distance. North-coast Cala d’en Serra near Portinatx is a well-kept secret. Aguas Blancas on the northeast coast has a great chiringuito serving caipirinhas and steak sandwiches. Cala Jondal in the east is beloved for its seafood restaurants. Salinas beach, near the villa, is a hotspot for the gorgeous people. It has a handy sun lounger service but, be warned, this beach gets very busy in high season.
Activities
Hire a 4x4 and take to the dirt tracks that criss-cross the pine forests in the north of the island. There’s limitless opportunity for golf, sailing, water-skiing, windsurfing, diving, horse-riding, go-karting and hot-air balloon trips, too. Speak to Deliciously Sorted to arrange.

Planes Iberia, British Airways and EasyJet all fly into Ibiza airport, which is about five miles southwest of Ibiza Town. Direct flights take a little over two hours from the UK. (There are no direct flights from the UK during November to March.) If you’re not hiring a car, taxis from the rank outside the airport are metred and reasonable (around €10 for the trip to Ibiza Town).
Local taxi service Taxi San Joan (+34 971 333033), WBW private driving service (+34 696 253759). For car hire, click on our Travel Offers page. Smithcard holders get a 10 per cent discount with Hertz.
Directions by road Forget map-reading nightmares – a representative will meet you and your party at the airport and help you find your villa. But here are directions for your records… From the airport, follow signs to Eivissa (Ibiza Town), then, at the second roundabout, start following signs to Santa Eularia. After the fourth roundabout, turn right towards Jesus. Pass the village of Jesus and follow signs to Roca Llisa and Cala Llonga. After about 4 km on a winding road, turn right into Roca Llisa. Pass the security bar and turn left, following signs for Cala Olivera Beach. After approximately 100m you will see a site on your left on which apartments are being built. Immediately turn right onto a dirt road. Follow this for 50m and you will see two concrete pillars on your left. This is the entrance to La Divina.
The most jawdroppingly special, two-bedroom property Smith could find in Ibiza, this villa is big and sumptuous, but not overly done, and its décor comes with a slight Balinese accent
Review
La Divina nestles on the hillside, high above the pine trees, looking across the bay and out to sea. Ibiza Town is only 10 minutes away in one direction and Santa Eulalia 10 in the other – but, from this treetop idyll, you feel as though you’re a million miles from anywhere.
Only five years old, the villa is a po-mo dream of glamorous right angles and crisp, Noughties cubist edges; and it skilfully blends contemporary style with a cosy charm. The most jawdroppingly special, two-bedroom property Smith could find in Ibiza, the villa is big and sumptuous, but not overly done, and its décor comes with a slight Balinese accent. Beds are draped with white muslin, while huge wooden furniture pieces break up areas large enough to cartwheel around in. The sense of space is impressive, especially when you consider that La Divina is a two-bedroom villa. Sink into the huge living-room daybeds and it will seem as though you’re looking at your fellow guests through the wrong end of a telescope. Even the 20ft pull-down TV screen looks modest under this double-height ceiling.
Slide open the glass doors, and enjoy calm, uninterrupted views out to the island of Formentera; you’re so high up here that the still, peaceful air seems to belong exclusively to you. Fall back into the soft terrace mattresses under the sail awning and breathe in somniferous views of the boats coming in – you won’t be moving for a while.
In the living room, modern art hangs on crisp, white walls, and sand-coloured stone spreads luxuriously across the floors like caramel. Windows on either side of the open fireplace sparkle and glitter – and frame wonderful views of the pool and sea. The sofas are so deep that, when you sit back, you suddenly regress to being a child, your feet dangling miles from the floor. Across the room, the dining table for 10 enjoys sea views – and is, thankfully, just a stagger to the double outdoor mattresses that are just perfect for a post-prandial snooze.
The villa sleeps a maximum of four in two en suite bedrooms, and each room is simple and sumptuous, with views across the pine treetops. The master bedroom’s enormous bed has suspended curtains that pull across from one end of the room to the other, creating a private, inviting space – a bed grotto, if you like – with a huge, rough wooden mirror propped on the floor inside it. The double bedroom opposite echoes this sentiment, but with red velvet curtains and Balinese wooden vases adorning the room.
Totally tranquil and as divine as its name suggests, this sleek villa is the ideal escape for peace-seeking couples.
