6 Beachfront Mirage

Queensland & Great Barrier Reef, Australia

Tucked away in an exclusive gated estate in the vibrant tropical resort town of Port Douglas, it has been designed to take full advantage of the glorious tropical climate and the open-plan living area spills out onto the poolside deck

Review

6 Beachfront Mirage is luxurious self-catering at its very best. Tucked away in an exclusive gated estate in the vibrant tropical resort town of Port Douglas, it has been designed to take full advantage of the glorious tropical climate and the open-plan living area spills out onto the poolside deck, creating an indoor and outdoor space. The central focus of the house is the stunning kitchen with breakfast bar, which doubles up as a cocktail bar in the evenings. Dining is alfresco; either on the expansive rear deck overlooking the garden and pool or at the front of the house with uninterrupted views of the 18-hole golf course.

Retreat upstairs to the two enormous en suite bedrooms which occupy the entire top floor of the house, with wide covered verandas overlooking the golf course. The rooms are furnished with high comfort in mind, so take advantage of the bar area on the balcony whilst unwinding. A good book and a stiff G&T is hard to beat in this context.

Golfing enthusiasts won’t need to lug their clubs too far to the neighbouring Mirage Golf Course but for those who are intent on wearing fewer items of clothing, the exquisite palm-fringed Four Mile Beach is just minutes away. Adults can indulge in some pampering on the plump-cushioned sun loungers or book an in-house yoga session. Gadget-savvy kids of all ages can make for the bean-bag-scattered media room complete with Xbox, Wii games and DVDs. The energetic should take advantage of the five bicycles at 6 Beachfront Mirage and explore the area. Alternatively, pedal the short distance to downtown Port Douglas where the many shops, galleries and fine restaurants will keep you coming back. Be sure to sneak a peek at the fleet of luxury boats on the marina which leave for the Great Barrier Reef each day.
