In the know

Our favourite rooms
Every Studio Suite has a black granite bath, teak flooring and fine silk drapes, as well as a tub for in-room spa treatments; the larger suites in the 40-storey residential tower are positively palatial, and have sweeping panoramic views from their private balconies.
Packing tips
Haute couture and shades.
Also
Lenny Kravitz designed the rooftop recording studio and the four-bedroom Penthouse suite is very rock 'n' roll (yours for $25,000 a night).

Food & drink

The Setai, food & drink
Hotel restaurant
The show kitchen produces excellent international cuisine with a strong Thai, Chinese and Indian influence. The restaurant is lined with wine cabinets and offers a wide selection of champagnes and caviar. There is also a separate steakhouse.
Dress code
SoBe sophisticate.
Top table
Overlooking the show kitchen or in one of the sunken pods around the Zen-like reflection pool.
Last orders
The restaurants closes at 11pm on weekdays, midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The bar closes at 2am.
Room service

Hotel bar
The cocktail bar between the lobby and the courtyard seems unbeatable in terms of style and sophistication... until you see the 90-foot beach bar by the pool. The Chili Passion cocktail is pure perfection.

Local restaurants

Nobu (+1 305 695 3100) at the Shore Club is just the other side of Collins Avenue and serves unparalleled Asian cusine; the rock shrimp tempura is a signature dish. Also at the Shore Club, Ago (+1 305 695 3226) is a well-regarded Italian restaurant owned by Robert de Niro; make sure you get a table outside. Bond St (+1 305 398 1806) at the Townhouse hotel just across the road prepares excellent sushi and Bloody Marys carefully crafted with sake.

Local cafes

A la Folie (+1 305 538 4484) on Española Way is a French café and bistro with lots of character – just like its sociable owner.

Worth getting out of bed for

The hotel can arrange private yachts, jets and deep-sea fishing but, if you want to use the recording studio on the roof, you better book it up fast before some selfish rock star takes it.
