Specialities included salt-baked fish and grouper cooked with spices. Changa at the Sakip Sabanci Museum (+90 (0)212 323 0901) is a stylish Mediterranean restaurant with a retro Scandinavian interior of light oak and copper-tone mirrors. The restaurant's terrace has wonderful views over the Bosphorus.

There can be few grander venues than this historic Istanbul mansion – and few views as dramatic as the breath-taking sight of the Bosphorus from A'jia Hotel's riverside terrace.
A'jia's staff are dab hands at the wedding business, helping to arrange more than 100 every year. There's a team of wedding coordinators on hand to help with all arrangements, tailoring food, entertainment and decor to your tastes. The hotel's best suited to grand affairs: at weekends, there's a 200-guest minimum, (150 during the week), and wedding groups are required to book all 15 rooms. Seated receptions have a maximum of 350, but you can invite up to 600 for a cocktail reception. There's no need to miss out on the gorgeous terrace in winter – there's a transparent tent kept in reserve for when the climate turns cooler.
Ask the hotel to arrange a private boat trip around Istanbul and Cape Horn for a splash of pre-wedding spectacle.
