A perfectly proportioned Moroccan boutique hotel, Dar Zemora is tricked out in chocolate tadelakt and a tasteful melange of antique and contemporary furnishings.

- Two suites, three rooms, all very private and looking out on the gardens.
- Rates
- Low season, £150–£230; mid-season, £175–£260; high season, £190–£285, including breakfast, light afternoon tea, mineral water and taxes.
- Check-out
- Midday, but flexible if room isn’t booked. The hotel can arrange for you to use a shower to freshen up if you have a late flight.
- Facilities
- Hammam, treatment rooom for massage, armatherapy and reflexology, library, limited WiFi. In rooms: iPod, CD player, internet access.
- Poolside
- The heated pool is shaded by palms and surrounded by gardens, parasols and teak sundecks.
- Children
- Under-twos and over-11s welcome (check for other ages). Cots in suites, no charge; extra bed, £50 a night. Babysitting available. Separate pavilion with two bedrooms and lounge/dining room available on request.

- Airport transfer for £20 (highly recommended). Private parties of up to 12 adults can book the whole property. Call for specific details of wheelchair access.

- Our favourite rooms
- Zahara suite has a lovely terrace, wooden four-poster and fireplace. The Perla suite is on the roof, with open fireplace, marble bath and big private terrace. Bebra is good for guests with mobility problems, and has a hand-painted bathroom ceiling.

- Layers in winter; swimmers.
Food & drink
- Hotel restaurant
- Moroccan cuisine with a Mediterranean twist, and fine dining on four nights of the week, prepared by gifted chef Rachida. No menu, but the six-course dinner, served at 8pm, includes two meat and two fish dishes. You can eat wherever you choose.
- Dress code
- As though you’re at home.
- Top table
- Weather permitting, round the pool by candlelight. In winter, by a roaring fire in the Omar Room.
- Last orders
- No specific time, but make sure you pre-book dinner.
- Room service
- 24 hours, but drinks and snacks only after midnight.
- Hotel bar
- None as such: you can relax with a drink wherever you choose.
