In the know
- Our favourite rooms
- Amanyara’s pavilions are identically styled in glass, teak, taupe and cream, with platform king-sized beds, two terraces, slatted shutters and retractable windows on three sides. The only difference is location. The Oceanfront Pavilions, raised 15–20ft from the shoreline offer covetable views of the lively waters with paths down the striated shore. Ensconced in the silvery island vegetation, the pavilions don’t suffer as badly from the marauding mosquitoes that strike in the low season.
- Packing tips
- Keen underwater explorers should bring along their PADI certification so they make use of the resort’s excellent Dive Centre. If fun in flippers isn’t for you, then a bevy of beach reads will see you through.
- Also
- Water-sporters and snorkellers are well catered for at Amanyara’s Beach Club; there’s Hobie Cats, Laser boats, kayaks, body boards and snorkeling equipment freely available.
Food & drink
- Hotel restaurant
- Like Amanyara itself, the restaurant’s cuisine mingles Caribbean flavours with Asian motifs, on a nightly changing menu. The Beach Club serves a selection of snacks and light meals throughout the day.
- Dress code
- Chic but beachy – linens, wraps and strappy flats.
- Top table
- On the terrace between the trees.
- Last orders
- Dinner ends at 10.30pm, but there’s a snack menu when the kitchen’s closed. The bar shuts at midnight.
- Room service
- 24 hours.
- Hotel bar
- Amanyara’s bar is the resort’s tallest building and its striking centerpiece; a circular teak building reflected in its adjacent pond, where you can sip cocktails, listen to jazzy live music and marvel at the intricate slatted ceiling.
