World-leading boutique hotel experts Mr and Mrs Smith have just started bringing their irresistible cocktail of style-spotting and service to travellers across Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

The London-based founders of the company saw an opportunity to provide discerning travellers with trustworthy recommendations for smaller, sexier hotels that drop under the radar of the stuffy luxury guides or mainstream directory sites. They produced their first guidebook in the UK in 2003 and it was an instant bestseller. Forays in Europe followed. Now they have opened an office in Melbourne to add to the haul of hotel recommendations, with contributing reviews such as chef and food writer Christine Manfield, actress Sigrid Thornon and Bondi vet Chris Brown. The company hopes to target some 200 hotels across Asia Pacific by the end of this year, releasing an Australian and New Zealand book in October and an Asian one in March 2010.
