Ilse Crawford
Design doyenne
Ilse is a creative director whose company, Studioilse, has created Soho House New York, the Electric Cinema, and the influential Babington House. Other feathers in her cap include the launch of Elle Decoration in 1989, and a vice-presidency with Donna Karan Home (where she helped launch DKNY and Donna Karan Homeware). Ilse is also head of department at the renowned Design Academy Eindhoven. Her latest book, Home is Where the Heart Is, explores ways in which we can integrate our basic emotional needs into design. Her latest projects include a cultural salon in Budapest, in collaboration with Tadao Ando.
