Young Thom wrote for an international night club journal. Young-ish Thom launched Restaurant magazine and the 50 Best Restaurants in the World awards. Current Thom has, along with grey hairs, creaky knees and a long-suffering Mrs Smith, acquired an obsessive appreciation for the high threadcounts and double-barreled toiletries found in only the most boutique of hotels. Regular travel for food, drink and the arts provides ideal cover for noisy opining on hotels and restaurants, not least for the esteemed organ that is Mr & Mrs Smith.
