Poolside

There’s a great view of the ocean (and SoBe’s in-crowd) from the wooden sundeck surrounding the heated outdoor infinity pool.

Smoking rooms are available on the second floor. Pets are welcome, for an additional charge of US$150. In-room treatments are available if you can’t face the walk to the hotel spa.

Hotel restaurant

With its circular polished-marble bar, open kitchen and exotic fusion menu, good-looking Vix Restaurant is the main draw for diners, although you can also do light lunch at the 2nd-floor terrace bar, Vue.

Dress code

Chi chi glam – why not sling on some vintage Mary-Janes, high-waisted trousers and a boat-necked blouse for that 1930s holiday look?

Top table

Out on Vue’s terrace for breakfast or lunch (try the Lobster Eggs Benedict); for dinner, book the Chef’s table for the five-course tasting menu (from US$75 a head).

Last orders

Vix, Vue and the Passage Bar are open until midnight.

Room service

Available for breakfast (7am–12 noon), dinner (5pm–midnight) and after-hours snacks (midnight–7am). Rack it up a notch with private in-room dining from Vix restaurant on Sunday or Monday nights.

Hotel bar

Bringing a hint of playfulness to its 30s-feel cocktail lounge, Bar V has a curving bar that emulates a chunk of ice – have fun sliding your vodka martinis to each other along it, or behave like grown-ups with elegant flutes of champagne. If ice bars leave you cold, head outside to Vue and have some bar snacks with your Acai Mojitos while you’re there.

Children

Welcome (there’s no extra charge for a cot bed), although you may want to keep this hotel to yourselves. The Victor Ocean Suite has a sofabed in the living area, making it best for families. Babysitting available at 24 hours’ notice (US$25 an hour).
