Calistoga Ranch
Children
- Best for
- Outdoorsy eight-year-olds and up. All ages are welcome, however.
- Recommended rooms
- The Estate Lodge has a kitchen and two bedrooms, one of which can be arranged into twin beds. Calistoga Ranch provides a family ‘grazing package’ of basic groceries on arrival so the little ones don’t go hungry. Other lodges have pull-out sofa beds.
- Activities
- The Napa Valley is ideal terrain for wildlife-watching and nature trails, and biking, horse-riding and hot air ballooning can all be arranged nearby. There’s a regular programme of activities, such as soap-making, bracelet beading and pastry cooking, so the young uns can be entertained without you needing to get out of the hot tub.
- Swimming pool
- The pool is shallow throughout.
- Meals
- Children are welcome in the Lakehouse restaurant at any time and high chairs can be provided. Staff are happy to heat milk or baby food, but there’s no specific children’s menu. Packed lunches and picnic baskets can be provided for day-trips.
- Baby sitting
- Babysitting from a reputable nanny service can be arranged through the concierge for $18 an hour ($2 an hour extra for each additional child).
- Baby listening
- Equipment is available.
- Also
- Children of all ages can get involved in the wine-making process, (pressing grapes, pruning and so on). The wine-drinking process is limited to adults, however.
