Mr & Mrs Smith have just returned from a trip to this London boutique hotel, and just as soon as they’ve unpacked their George Smith chairs and shopping bags from the King’s Road, a full account of their stay in the UK will be with you. In the meantime, just to whet your wanderlust, here’s a quick postcard from the Kensington Hotel…
From the second you walk through the front door of London’s Kensington Hotel – bookended by perfectly spherical topiared trees – you feel as though you’re in a whole different dimension to all that shopping-bag swinging, ice-cream waving and camera-flashing on the streets of South Ken. The lounge area is flooded with natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows, and attentive staff bring glasses of wine and plates of wonderful-smelling food to guests sprawled on leather sofas and chairs all around the space. Upstairs, the laid-back vibe continues in spacious rooms – all of which have been decorated with a creative use of colour – and the selection of handpicked furniture just seems to invite you to sit (or even lie) down, take a deep breath and begin to recharge your batteries for the long London night ahead.
