Stumbled across a very charming cocktail bar called Misty's a little off the beaten track, on Church Road in Hove. Incredible cocktails, very sultry decor – tres chic.

Try La Tasca in North Street for excellent tapas and atmosphere. If you are in to speciality teas try No Name Restaurant in St James Street – nice cakes too!

A fabulous local restaurant is Havana at 32 Duke Street Brighton (+44 (0)1273 773388). Amazing modern European food in a gorgeous Colonial setting with great service. It isn't cheap but as a special treat, it's well worth it. Definitely a place to consider visiting.

Due South is an excellent fish restaurant on the coast midway between the old and new pier.

Had a fantastic meal in Pintxo People – the staff are fantastic and gave excellent advice when ordering. Head across the road to Koba  for anamazing cocktail menu – with so much choice you will be stuck there for hours sampling the mojitos. Wander around the Lanes for a a spot of shopping for the unusual, as well as ahuge choice of places to grab some lunch. The Gingerman lives up to its reputation for excellent food and service.

During our stay in Brighton Mr Smith and I ate at a wonderful champagne and oyster bar – Riddle and Finns in the Laines. Its candlelit atmosphere was the perfect place to sit back and contemplate the menu of fresh fish dishes whilst enjoying a glass of champagne or two. The open kitchen means you can see your food being prepeared, and although you share your table with other diners they are large enough that it doesn't feel intrusive. A quick hello to the couple opposite was all that was required before we settled into our delicious meal for two. Also worth a quick mention was the fabulous bakery we discovered in the Laines during our evening stroll, although it was at the time unfortunately closed. The Angel Food Bakery was our first stop the next morning, however and the cupcakes were just as delicious and sweet as the decor. Eat in, take out, or both! Perfect fuel for the journey home.

Mry girlfriend and I recently stayed at Square and had a super time exploring Brighton. Square was great and the staff very helpful. We went for Thai food at The King & I (+44 (0)871 207 2041), which was superb. We also found a very warm and cosy bar, The Bath Arms (+44 (0)1273 329 437), in the Lanes which had good traditional food and excellent beer – well worth a visit, not to mention the large log fire.

We had a really lovely meal at Terre à Terre, a high-end vegetarian restaurant which attracts many meat eaters.

Also enjoyed a hike around Devil's Dyke on the South Downs, only a couple of miles outside of Brighton. It went through a village called Poynings, which is the perfect quaint English village with an excellent pub – the Royal Oak. Food was superb.

Square in the New Steine is a great jumping off point for exploring Brighton – the flourishing 'rainbow' community in Kemptown includes the great 'No Name restaurant' with Kobe burgers and a fine Sunday roast, and, for sophisticated evenings, the Gingerman restaurant at the nearby Drakes hotel combined a great menu with fabulous service.

We found a great tapas restaurant, Casa Don Carlos, at 5 Union Street in The Lanes (+44 (0)1273 327177). Abundant, tasty dishes, friendly service. Glad we got there when we did – it's obviously a favourite, and was soon pretty full. Marvellous chorizo, olives, prawns in garlic and chili, paella etc. Plus Due South restaurant on the sea front (+44 (0)1273 821218) – a treat of a place serving lots of locally sourced produce, all finely cooked and charmingly presented...

Myself and my new French boyfriend stayed at Square in Brighton for part of the Easter weekend. We had an absolutely awesome time, even though our trip began with his £1,000 camera being stolen from London Bridge. The hotel, the service, the restaurants and Brigton were that amazing that his loss did not at all taint our trip. Firstly the hotel was my treat and we were both really impressed, but I definitely earned brownie points with him. The service was faultless, the room stunning and well decorated, the artwork throughout the hotel amazing, the breakfast really good, and all the staff were genuinely friendly and accomodating. In fact his only complaint of the entire hotel was that there was no Nutella for breakfast. His recommendation was very much appreciated!

Although entirely French and carnivorous, he took me to the vegetarian restaurant, Food for Friends, which was unbelievable. He loved the food despite being a meat-twice-a-day kind of man, which really says something about the standard of a vegetarian restaurant, in my experience. Another cool place apart from all the standard attractions was Juju on Gloucester Road which sells really chic, quirky clothes and the owners were really nice. He forgot his shirt at the hotel and it was kindly posted to his address in France without a quibble. Like I said, the service was exceptional, even beyond our stay.

All in all we had a fantastic time and would without doubt return and recommend this hotel to all our friends.
