Best for: Babies and up – all ages welcome at this child-friendly hotel.
Recommended rooms: Most rooms are large enough for at least one extra bed (£10) or cot (complimentary).
Activities: The small walled garden is a safe haven for children to run around in. There are no special facilities for children, but the concierge is full of information on local child-friendly attractions, such as Winchester's steam railway and zoological park.
Meals: Children are welcome in the Bistro restaurant at all times, and half portions of the adult menu are available at half-price. Happy to heat up milk and baby food.
Baby sitting: This is available at around £10 an hour, with a three-hour minimum. Please give at least 48 hours' notice.
Baby listening: A monitor is available (there's only one, so it needs to be pre-booked) that links the bedroom to the parent's mobile phone.
No need to pack: There are high chairs in the restaurant. Children receive a complimentary Arran Aromatics toiletries set.
Also: Ask when you book and the concierge will have a pack of family friendly information on Winchester and surrounding area ready when you check in. There is a DVD and CD player in every room, and DVDs and board games to borrow from reception. Every room has a mini bar, handy for storing milk.
