In the know
- Our favourite rooms
- The fifth-floor Suite 79 has its own cosy reception area and a collection of Chinese art worthy of any gallery. If you're seeking daylight, each of the six Corner 63 suites has a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows that let the sunshine flood in. Rooms are a stylish combination of modern light wood flooring and designer furniture with traditional Turkish rugs, Chinese art and antiques. The king-size and super-king-size beds are absolutely massive and quirky extras such as pony skin vanity stools add a sense of fun. There is a separate dressing room and spacious marble bathroom with rain shower and a deliciously deep Kohler bath.
- Packing tips
- Relaxed sports gear for morning Tai Chi in nearby Benjakiti Park; racy threads for bar-flitting after dark.
- Also
- If a piece of art or an antique catches your eye in the hotel, feel free to ask if you can buy it ('borrowing' bathrobes and ashtrays is so last year!).
Current offers
- Smith card offer
- A bottle of red, white or sparkling wine on arrival

Food & drink
- Hotel restaurant
- The elegant La Truffe, helmed by chef Nicolas Raynard, has been wowing local diners with its refined attitude and French Provençal cuisine. White linen tables and chocolate leather chairs are separated by leather bookshelves, allowing you to discreetly tuck into gourmet treats such as steak tartar, foie gras terrine, rack of veal and the divine lobster salad while boning up on Thai culture. But La Truffe is not so posh you can’t enjoy a simple burger (made with Wagyu beef, naturally) or salad – try the Nicoise with perfectly cooked poached egg. The wine list, with a French bias, is excellent, as are the cheese plates.

- Hotel bar
- You can’t miss Ma Du Zi glorious round bar; you walk right into it when entering the hotel. Perch on a blood-red leather stool nursing a whisky sour, or retreat to the ‘team room,’ where dark slate walls, tactile rugs and gorgeous butter-suede sofas will envelop you in relaxed sophistication. There's a well-honed list of wine and cocktails, including the signature Ma Du Zi Martini for Bond-style assignations.
