Worth getting out of bed for
Highlights the best Koh Phi Phi has to offer, from art and culture to fun-packed activities; we've even found the most inspiring place to enjoy the views from.
- Viewpoint
- For a picture-postcard-panoramic scope of the twin bays of Phi Phi – and a smashing sunset – trek your way up to the famous lookout point in Ton Sai. The trail takes you along the lush curves of Loh Dalum Bay, before climbing up the hill past Phi Phi View Point Resort.
- Best beach
- While you’ll be spoilt for choice with the number of beautiful beaches on Koh Phi Phi, you may want to avoid Maya Beach, where The Beach was filmed. What was once a beautiful bay is now overrun with hordes of tourists, speedboats in tow. Take a long-tail to snorkel- and kayak-friendly Monkey Beach, where the cheeky animals caper on the sand – and even in the ocean.
- Activities
- Embrace the beach islander’s life: alternate between toasting your skin to sun-kissed perfection on the beach and taking re-fuelling, refreshing dips in the embracing emerald waters. Scuba diving is huge on Koh Phi Phi, and if you’ve been meaning to get your certification, there really is no better time or place (www.phiphidiving.com). Otherwise, snorkel over the many glistening reefs, or take to a sea-canoe. Kayaking provides one of the best ways to explore both marine and bird life; spend half a day meandering through unearthly limestone cliffs and caves. Rock-climbing is also available, though not as well set up as in nearby Krabi.
