Keenly Koh Phi Phi

The scuba diving around Phi Phi is among the most wonderful in the world. Traverse shallow sheltered bays in the morning and enjoy a wall or drift dive in the afternoon; shimmering soft corals and huge sea fans are a constant feature. At aptly named Shark Point, leopard sharks lurk in the sandy depths, nurse and reef sharks are frequent visitors, and, at a submerged outcrop eight kilometres southeast of Phi Phi Ley, whale shark sightings are common in February and March.

Getting there

Planes, trains, automobiles, or maybe even helicopter – we tell you the best way to go.

Planes
If you don’t mind spending a morsel more for the sake of efficiency, the jet-setting way of reaching Koh Phi Phi is via seaplane. Destination Air Shuttle (www.destinationair.com) makes the 12-minute trip from Phuket’s airport – as well as other popular Andaman coast destinations – to Phi Phi Don.
Boats
Flying aside, the only way of getting to Koh Phi Phi is by ferry from Krabi (either Krabi Town or Ao Nang), Phuket (Phuket Town) and Koh Lanta (www.phi-phi.com/ferry). Boats arrive twice daily, and frequency increases during high season. It’s advisable to book through a local travel agent.
