Wend your way along the cobbles of the casco antiguo – the mediaeval centre – and you’ll best find La Sacristia on foot. The reception/bar mixes traditional tiled tables and old stone floors with silk lanterns in jewel shades, Moroccan ironwork and Chinese lacquerware, so a surprise comes in the simplicity of our room. The floors are tiled; the walls and muslin curtains are white; and a single piece of driftwood decorates the wall behind the bedhead.

- €115–€135, including breakfast. A minimum three-night stay is required in June – this goes up to four nights in July and five nights in August, then back to three nights again in September.

- A driver can be arranged, to pick you up and take you out for the day to beaches, at night to clubs, or for airport transfers. The hotel hosts art exhibitions of photography/paintings that are for sale.

- The restaurant is in the glass-rooofed Moorish courtyard. The savvy chef does creative fusion food.

- Flip-flops, surf shorts, little Mambo dress.

- Not too close to the live music if you want to chat.

- Food: 10.30pm. Bar: until 1am, but flexible for guests; there is always somebody at the bar.
- Room service
- None as such, but you can go down and ask at the bar.
- Hotel bar
- During the summer months the hotel has a very lively club atmosphere in the late evening, with live music.
