Bar La Estrella, on Estrella (close to the Flamenco museum), is a great tapas bar that is stuffed with locals. The wine selection is great and overall much more authentic and better value than some in the immediate vicinity of the cathedral.
In Seville, we found Calle Betis, a lively street by the river to house many restaurants and bars. Abades Triana stood out as particularly stylish. Housing an upmarket restaurant indoors, a terrace bar (for well priced drinks and tapas) directly overlooking the river and the Torre del Oro, and downstairs at river level a more private chic bar with hammock seats and music. All open 9pm till late.
What a beautiful hotel! We stayed on the second floor above the cool courtyard, with wicker baskets of oranges and tables inviting you to stay a little longer, take more tea and read another chapter of that book! When we made it away from the super-relaxing hotel we enjoyed the breathtaking Alcazar with its Moorish architecture and decoration. Near to the Alcazar is a fantastic street lined with great bars for drinks and tapas called Calle Mateus. We had fantastic tapas at Bar Giralda (+34 954 227 435), formerly a Moorish bath house - great value and very authentic. Another good spot for breakfast is Casa Tomate (+34 954 220 421) further up the road and the nearby Casa Placido (+34 954 563 971), a fino bar making no concessions to tourists, is another great tip.
