In the know
- Our favourite rooms
- Room 1 on the ground floor is an alluring prospect, with its massive double shower, tiger-swinging space and the secluded, hammock-swinging sun deck. Room 4 is a daintier option, with a split living room and wooden steps leading down into a little tropical garden. Honeymooners should head to Room 5 on the top floor – wooden beams and ocean views up the romance factor, but it’s the sun-deck Jacuzzi that’s the biggest draw.
- Packing tips
- O on Kloof is a very short way from the heart of Cape Town’s party scene, so make sure there’s a gladrag or two in your luggage.
- Also
- Hands-on owner Olaf (where the ‘O’ came from) is a dedicated believer in ‘little touches’. Thus all guests get fine South African bubbly in their rooms and canapés at sundown; honeymooners are treated to special smellies and rose petal baths.

- City-bound Western Cape escape
No detail goes unnoticed at this boutique Bantry Bay bed and breakfast; not content with creating a spotlessly slick mini-hotel in Cape Town, O on Kloof’s flamboyant owner Olaf really goes that extra mile – a bottle of cool bubbly waiting for you on arrival, canapés brought to your room at 6pm sharp and staff so smiley you wonder if they’re paid in chocolate…
