In the know
- Our favourite rooms
- All Mollies luxurious, spacious suites are individually decorated with an elegant blend of antiques and vintage-meet-boho finds, soothing neutral palettes and evocative distressed walls. If you're musically inclined, ask for one of the Premier Villa Suites with a grand piano (some overlook the garden terrace with its cosy outdoor fireplace and verdant palms, others come with glimpsed views of Auckland harbour). Rooms 1 and 8 are both at the front of the hotel with vistas of distant water; groundfloor 1 offers chic, contemporary white decor; 8 sits above it, and is more of a New York-style loft. Villa and Junior Suites are slightly smaller, with some suites at the back of the property giving onto the garden.
- Packing tips
- Bring your own sheet music if you fancy a tinkle on the old joannas (grand pianos litter this place like confetti).
- Also
- If you'd prefer to just tune out, book yourself into East Day Spa at Mollies, which offers soothing Asian-inspired treatments in a dedicated, candlelit space at the back of the property, including a couples treatment room (we recommend the signature massage, which incorporates shiatsu, Balinese, Hawaiian and Swedish techniques).

- Hotel restaurant
- Food is a major event at Mollies, with chef Lance Tripp whipping up contemporary New Zealand cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner in The Dining Room. Table settings are as lavish as the dishes at dinner, which include tempura quail with cauliflower purée, wasabi, aioli, radish and rhubarb, and grain-fed beef fillet with roast garlic purée and mushtroom tart, as well as fine wines. There's a children's menu too, if you've got the smalls with you.
