Mr & Mrs Smith have an anonymous review trip to this serene contemporary riad in the diary, and just as soon as they’ve unpacked their spice sacks and souk souvenirs, a full account of their stay in Marrakech will be with you. In the meantime, just to whet your wanderlust, here’s a quick postcard from Riad Anyssates…
A simple, traditional Moroccan riad given a modern and personal touch, Anyssates is a serene antidote to the bustle of the medina. Smooth white walls, taupe wicker chairs, bright drapes and bedding, grey taledakt bathrooms – every aspect of the decor is designed to calm, soothe and render recumbent. This is a hotel for lounging on cushions on the roof terrace, slo-mo swimming in the courtyard pool, and supping mint tea on one of the comfy suede sofas. It’s one of those places where the staff seem as happy to be there as the guests; the ever-smiling house manager, Abdou, has been with the riad since it opened, and you get the feeling that he’s as much a part of the welcoming atmosphere as the crackling fire and hearty home-cooked food.
