Local restaurants
Hacienda de San Antonio is sufficiently remote to mean that Colima's other eateries aren't exactly convenient, but thanks to an innovative kitchen, and ever-changing dining area, and vast acreas of land producing fresh, seasonal ingredients, eating here can be like dining in a different restaurant every night.
Worth getting out of bed for
The hacienda's cattle ranch, El Jabalí, is very nearby and has a host of expert guides on hand to take you on volcano-climbing, nature-spotting, bird-watching or horse-riding expeditions through the gorgeous landscape. Alternatively, as the hacienda to pack you a picnic and wander through acres of peaceful pasture to dine lakeside. Make an excursion to Camala or Colima to pick up Huichol art and handicrafts and sample ponche – the local tipple made from the maguey cactus.
