Our favourite rooms: The Master Villa, a 300sqm Creole-style house set in its own private gardens, is the one to treat yourself to. It comes with three airy en-suite rooms, a huge open-air terrace and its own pool.
Packing tips: Bring lots of books – you’re going to have ample time to tackle all those novels you’ve always meant to read.
Also: If you enjoy watersports, then Round Island offers a whole range of activities – from snorkelling and sailing to deep-sea diving and big game fishing – all with qualified instructors on hand.

Setting: Private Praslin paradise.

A tiny green dot with a white-sand outline, just a few minutes’ doggy-paddle from Praslin, Round Island is the sort of tropical paradise that you used to draw at school. Lush green foliage rises to a peak, semi-hiding traditional Creole-style villas, with gorgeous terraces and delicious, dip-worthy pools, which exude a uniquely tropical type of luxury.

Need to know

Rooms: Four villas (three Ocean View and one Master).
Rates: From €2,964.50 a night full board. €19,250 a night for sole use of the island. Minimum three-night stay.
Check-out: Midday; check-in 3pm.
Facilities: Swimming pools, fitness room, library, CD/DVD library, WiFi in certain areas, laundry service, massages and spa treatments available on request. In rooms: TV and DVD player, sound system, minibar, air-conditioning, Balneotherapy tub, outdoor showers.
Poolside: There are two pools on the island – though one is for the sole use of those staying in the Master Villa.
Hotel closed: The resort is closed between 1–30 June annually.
Also: There's a three-night minimum stay.

Food & drink

Hotel restaurant: The tropical-style Le Flibustier restaurant is right on the beach, and serves up delicious international and Creole cuisine with an emphasis on straight-out-of-the-water seafood.
Dress code: Breezy and casual barefoot chic.
Top table: Ask for a table right at the edge of the veranda, so you can watch the ocean gently swell beneath you as you tuck into your mullets and marlin.
Last orders: The last meals and drinks are usually served at 11pm, but arrangements are incredibly flexible.
Room service: You can order from the restaurant menu and have dishes brought to your room at any time.
Hotel bar: Situated in the open-air restaurant, the bar is the ideal place in which to relax with a pre- or post-prandial cocktail.

Other facilities

Children: Kids are welcome. Under fives stay for free; six- to 11-year-olds are €300 a night; and 12- to 17-year-olds are €475 a night. Babysitters are available on request. The resort also provides cribs, and there’s a full children’s menu in the restaurant.
