The Sea Captain's House lets you step back in time to the elegance of 1864 (while also providing the comforts of a modern luxury home). The House is positioned at the clifftop, just 12 steps down from the main path that runs through the village of Oia. Your views will be dazzling by day and star-scattered by night, taking in the ocean and the amazing Santorini volcanoes with their surrounding multi-layered caldera cliffs. Book well in advance to stay in high season, to avoid disappointment.

Rooms: Three suites.
Rates: Low season, $295–$595; high season, $385–$675, including taxe and a full American-style champagne breakfast served until late into the day.
Check-out: Midday.
Facilities: Rooftop terrace, massage room and beauty treatments, mini-library, sauna, wine cellar, WiFi and LAN Internet connection in the rooms and throughout the House, DVD and CD library.
Poolside: There is a rooftop terrace with jacuzzi. The hotel also has a massage studio.
Hotel closed: The island’s traditional season is April–October – the hotel remains open for the 'quiet season' of November through March, when the hotel’s restaurants are however closed.
Also: There’s a Peugeot 206 automatic convertible and a Jeep you can rent for the day. Catamaran sailing in the caldera can be arranged, including an onboard barbecue. Airport transfers are provided when guests stay for four nights or more.

Food & drink

Hotel restaurant: With wonderful views, the two Sea Captain’s restaurants, Ambrosia and Ambrosia & Nectar, are separate from the hotel; guests get a ten per cent discount. Private dining at the House on request. The ‘Lazy Breakfast’ is served when you like.
Dress code: Casual night-time attire.
Top table: On the sea-view side.
Last orders: Food: midnight. Drinks: 24-hour honesty bar.
Room service: The hotel owns two restaurants nearby, which can deliver meals to your terrace or room on request.
Hotel bar: The Captain's Bar is an honesty bar available only to house guests.
