It’s for this designer hotel between the Champs-Elysees, the Avenue Montaigne and the Avenue George in Paris that the word ‘chic' was invented. A dramatic, brightly coloured stone tunnel is a suitable segue into the lobby of a 19th-century mansion where whispers of the Second Empire are still apparent in the sweeping staircase, splendid wrought-iron balconies and arched doorways. Combining calm and serenity with understated luxury, each of the 26 rooms at Pershing Hall is a design-conscious romantic's dream and the spa is the cherry on this sybaritic cake.
