Normandy Hotel map and travel info
Getting there
Planes, trains, automobiles, or maybe even helicopter – we tell you the best way to go.
- Planes
- Domestic flights to Rouen connect at Lyon (90 minutes’ flying, www.airfrance.com). For British visitors, there is no point trying to fly to the region; Paris would be your nearest access point.
- Boats
- Channel-side Normandy is served by a glut of ports providing easy access by ferry from the UK. For Honfleur, Le Havre is nearest, although Dieppe will do nicely (www.ldlines.com). Alençon, in the south, is a two-hour drive from Le Havre.
- Trains
- For Lower Normandy stays, the TGV from Paris Montparnasse reaches Le Mans in one hour; from Marseille to Rennes, it takes eight (www.tgv.com). Corail Intercité links Paris St Lazare with central Caen in two hours (www.sncf.com). Train travel for UK visitors involves a dog-leg route via Paris, making it nonsensical.
- Automobiles
- From Paris, the A13 and A11 motorways take you to the north and south of the region respectively. Rouen is a two-hour drive from Paris or Calais, one hour from Le Havre.
