Local restaurants
You can order excellent French cuisine at K'fé Massaï (+590 590 297678),right next door to the hotel. Further away in Saline, but more than worth the trip, L’Esprit de Saline (+590 (0)590 524610) may be a relative spring chicken on the island's dinng scene but it's built up quite a following for its daily changing menu and lemongrass rum. Not far from La Banane in St Jean, Eden Rock has two restauarnts, the Sand Bar for lunch and On the Rocks for dinner, which both come effusively recommended. The Wall House Restaurant (+590 (0)590 277183) in Gustavia's harbour serves well priced French and Creole dishes, but the jet set's top spot has to be Le Ti St Barth's (+590 (0)590 279771), a fun-loving island institution.
Local bars
St Barths wouldn't be the international jet-setting high-life hub if it didn't have its branch of luxury sun-seekers' hang-out Nikki Beach in St Jean, decadent beach club, restaurant and party venue of the Caribbean's beautiful people.
Local cafes
Le Bouchon (+590 (0)590 277939) in Lorient is a nifty spot for a quick croque monsieur or a chilled beer at lunch-time.
