It’s typical of Laluna’s Italian owner that the toiletries are flown in from a remote monastery in the Alps, but, then, if you’re serious about operating a Grenada boutique hotel that has the flavour and feeling of your native Italy, you really can’t do things by halves.
Take the menu: bresaola, gnocchi and prosciutto are a far cry from the ubiquitous jerk chicken of other hotel restaurants in the region, and few guests would expect to enjoy a limoncello digestif 5,000 miles from its Neapolitan home. Even with such pronounced Mediterraneana (coupled with an Indonesian open-air architectural slant), there’s no escaping the inimitable Caribbean ambience – how can there be when you’ve got bougainvillea and frangipani cascading down the hillside to the secluded beach, delicious seafood available every day and tropical sunshine twinkling on the water?
