If you’re into tropical paradises (and let’s face it, who isn’t?) then you couldn’t ask for more of a sun-drenched box-ticker than Kiaroa. Unspoilt sugar-white sands, coconut palms, mangrove forests and rich blue, glassy waters – it’s got everything you’d demand from a Brazilian beach resort and then some. Located on southern Bahia’s remote Marau Peninsula, an eco-sanctuary on the edge of the Atlantic Forest, Kiaroa is only accessible by private plane or boat, which – combined with the fact it has just 28 rooms – ups the hotel’s exclusive feel no end. In addition to being stunningly set and care-meltingly serene, the resort’s a seriously green option too, with solar power, its own water treatment works, fresh, locally sourced food and assorted other feel-good tree-huggery to help soothe the conscience as well as coddle the soul.
