Mr & Mrs Smith have just got back from an anonymous review trip to this boutique hotel in the Red Centre, and just as soon as they’ve unpacked their bags, a full account of their stay in Australia will be with you. In the meantime, just to whet your wanderlust, here’s a quick taster of wilderness escape, Voyages Longitude 131º...
Sunrise over Uluru (aka Ayers Rock) is not a sight you’re likely to forget, and, thanks to the remote-control shades in Longitude 131º’s tented cabins, you can take it in every morning without even lifting your head from the pillow. The hotel’s 15 luxury cabins stretch in an arc across the terracotta desert floor, each one raised on stilts and fitted with floor-to-ceiling glass windows to make the most of the awe-inducing panorama. In keeping with the sun-baked remote setting, each of the hotel’s rooms is inspired by an Outback pioneer, and bedroom walls are adorned with relevant letters, manuscripts and images. Other then the bedrooms and the communal lounge/restaurant area that forms Longitude 131º’s bar, restaurant and social hub, there’s nothing but wilderness for miles, so if it’s isolation and tranquillity that top your holiday wish list, there can be few better options.
