The Villas of Byron 19-23 Gordon Street Byron Bay 2481 New South Wales AU

The Villas of Byron

Byron Bay, Australia

Style Byron does Bali

Setting A meander from Main Beach

Airy pool villas giving onto lush tropical garden courtyards with winsome water features... blink and you'll believe you're in Bali, but the Villas of Byron in Byron Bay are bringing Asian luxe to Australia. Offering five seductively styled sanctuaries (two one-bed and three two-bedroom villas), each with a heated pool, spa and dreamy day-beds, this is the perfect coastal escape for chilling out in style. Beyond the sheltering walls, Byron's surf beaches, spas and bars beckon.

Need to know

  • Rates information AU$490 (one-bedroom villa)–AU$925 (two-bedroom villa). Any bookings of seven or more nights receive a discount of AU$50 off the nightly rates. Seasonal variations apply.
  • Ideal for Couples or honeymooners seeking solitude, privacy and romance; families who fancy a stylish Byron home away from home.
  • Sleeps 2-4
  • Property style The love child of Bali and Byron Bay. We're talking private pool villas in high-walled courtyards, airy interiors embracing the tropical outdoors, and handcarved wooden furniture from the Indonesian isle.
  • Grounds The villas back onto a natural rainforest, each with their own Zen garden at the core.
  • Minimum hire Two-night minimum stay at weekends; five nights at Christmas, New Year and Easter peak season.
  • Children Welcome, but bear in mind open water is a central feature of each villa's design and there are no railings on decks. The vibe here is more adult sophistication than nippers at play, so no running, diving or bombing (petting, or course, is optional).
  • Booking process Cancellations made more than a month prior to check-in will incur a cancellation fee of 20 per cent of the total booking value. Less than a month prior to arrival, a cancellation fee of 50 per cent of the total booking value applies. Within seven days of arrival, a 100 per cent cancellation fee will be incurred.
  • Also Smoking is allowed outside only. Pets are not permitted. There's a 24-hour reception on site, should you need staff support. Villas are cleaned every 3 days, daily cleaning can be organised for an additional fee.

Floor plan

  • Bedrooms

With design and architecture inspired by both Bali and Byron Bay, villa bedrooms are sleek, soothing and contemporary, with wooden floors and blinds. Each one has a king-size bed, walk-in wardrobes, an ensuite bathroom (with double bath, shower and heated marble floor) and a private outdoor shower. Views out onto your own garden pool add to the relaxed feel.

The two One-Bedroom Villas sleep two adults as standard in a king-size bed, or maximum two adults and a child at extra cost. A second sleeping space is available for an adult or child not wanting to share the main king-size bed. There's one indulgent bathroom with a secluded outdoor shower.

The three Two-Bedroom Villas sleep four adults as standard, with a king-size bed in each bedroom and a rollaway bed available for AU$100 a night for a fifth child guest. Two luxurious bathrooms each feature an outdoor shower.

For added flexibilty, you can also request a One-Bedroom Grand Villa, which is essentially a Two-Bedroom Villa with one of the bedrooms shut off. It sleeps two, and costs a little more than the One-Bedroom Villa as it's more spacious, but is an option when a regular One-Bedroom Villa isn't available.

Similarly, adults who want to sleep in separate beds or are travelling with a child can ask for a Two-Bedroom Mini Villa, similar to a Two-Bedroom Villa but with just one bathroom accessible to share.

  • Kitchen

A fully equipped contemporary kitchen adjoins the open-plan living/dining area in each villa, with sleek marble bench tops, a large stainless-steel fridge-freezer, electric stovetop, oven, microwave, two-drawer dishwasher, filtered water system and ample pantry. Toaster and tea- and coffee-making kit is also to hand.

  • Living room

With high, sloping ceilings and wall-to-wall sliding glass doors out onto the patio and courtyard garden, the spacious open-plan living/dining rooms are light and airy. Contemporary leather sofas and chairs sit alongside handcrafted Balinese furniture and accessories, such as serene Buddha figurines. A wall-mounted flatscreen TV provides entertainment, and soft throws, cushions, outsize vases and vibrant art warm up the space.

  • Dining room

A dining table and chairs sits between the kitchen and living area for convivial socialising, or take it outside where another dining area is set up on the poolside patio.

  • Other

A desk off the living area means you can catch up on email (there's WiFi here, although it's a crime to work).

  • Poolside All villas offer a heated palm-fringed pool and spa with gushing water features and inviting sun-loungers. Private outdoor showers add to the Balinese feel, with textured wall details and decorative carvings. High walls and the standalone setting of each individual villa mean clothing is optional (how very dare you!).
  • Gardens There's a typically Balinese indoor/outdoor feel here, with bedrooms and living/dining areas connected to the villa's leafy courtyard pool and romantic garden through generous sliding glass doors, especially when they're drawn right back. Soothing water features and bold planting adds to the tropical vibe. There's also a barbecue and an authentic Balinese day-bed out on the deck for alfresco dining, overlooking the pool and spa.
  • Private parking Each villa has its own free private car parking space right outside the villa front door.
  • Other Heated marble floors keep the space toasty in winter (June–August); air-conditioning and atmospheric ceiling fans ensure cool air come summer (December–February). There's also a laundry within each villa by the kitchen.
