St Moritz Hotel
Overview
The kids' room has a Wii. The hotel has a deal with a local surf outfit to offer beach sessions, included in the room rate. Children under 14 can stay on a Z-bed in your room for £25 B&B.
Best for
Small, surfing Smiths
Recommended rooms
The ground-floor Suites offer the most family space, as well as full kitchens and doors opening onto the garden.
Crèche
Not as such, but there is a kids' club down on the beach that keeps little ones occupied during the day.
Activities
The Wii in the games room may be diversion enough, but there's no substitute for surfing in this part of the world; St Moritz can organise lessons for budding wave-riders at a nearby surf school. There are tennis courts, too. In school holidays (excluding summer), young guests can join in with the kids' club down on Polzeath Beach between 9.45am and 12.30pm for free.
Swimming pool
Both indoor and outdoor pools have shallow ends, and there are flotation aids on hand.
Meals
Youngsters are welcome in the restaurant between 6.30pm and 7.30pm, and there's a children's menu on offer. Highchairs can be provided, lunches can be packed, and milk/baby food can be heated.
Babysitting
Local nannies can be arranged 12 hours in advance.
No need to pack
Cots (and linen) are free for babies; extra beds are £25 a night. Ask in advance if you need these – or a highchair in your room.
