Take a guided nature walk through the reserve, spotting unique flora and fauna in the heritage-listed Main Range National Park. From March to November, Hidden Peaks Walks (www.hiddenpeaks.com.au) offers small-group tours lead by local ecologists, giving you the chance to encounter koalas, kangaroos and a bevy of birds. If you prefer pedal power, borrow one of the hotel's mountain bikes to tootle around. When it comes to pampering, head to Spa Anise at Spicers Peak Lodge, where indulgent treatments include hot-stone massage, reflexology and aromatherapy sessions. Saddle up for horse riding, a 30-minute drive away, or make a splash at Queen Mary Falls, which are an hour away. 

The isolated setting is part of the hotel's charm – and as it's all inclusive, you'll have little reason to stray. If you do feel like feasting further afield, book a table at sister property Spicers Peak Lodge, where you can dine on fabulous seven-course tasting menus, or ask staff to pack you a gourmet picnic to enjoy by the swimming hole.
