What I liked
The excellent hospitality - nothing was too much trouble. The beautiful, peaceful, opulent surroundings. We didn't want to leave.

There's a great free shuttle service (a pleasant air-conditioned Mercedes minibus) from the hotel to the Duomo in the centre of Florence, which we didn't know about until we arrived. It's a much better option than driving and runs to an hourly timetable so you can plan your day.

When in Florence city centre, we found the perfect place for an early evening drink: the roof-top bar at Rinascente, a department store in Piazza della Repubblica, which has amazing views over the Duomo and the rest of the city.
