Located right in the centre of Chamonix and just metres away from the Aiguille du Midi cable car, Apartment Angelina is the perfect choice for serious skiers. The resort is known as the capital of Alpine extreme sports and there’s an enormous range of activities to choose from, both summer and winter. The apartment sleeps six guests in three double or twin rooms so it’s also ideal for families seeking something with a greater sense of home than a hotel. You can choose to hire Apartment Angelina on a self-catering or fully catered basis and, whichever level of service you choose, there’s a dedicated resort concierge to help organise a fantastic break in the mountains.

  • Rates information From £7,818–£13,727 for a week’s hire on a self-catering basis. Fully catered packages start at £11,667 for seven nights and go up to £20,917. Fully catered three-night stays start from £6,917; four nights from £8,167.
  • Ideal for Serious skiing, extreme sports, short breaks and family holidays.
  • Sleeps Six guests in three bedrooms with queen-size or twin beds.
  • Minimum hire One week if self-catering, but three and four-night breaks are available when you hire the apartment on a fully-catered basis.
  • Children Welcome. Car seats, high chairs, buggies and children’s cutlery can all be provided. Kids’ menus can be arranged on request and babysitters can be booked for you, too. The garden is a secure space for children to play in.
  • Booking process Smith deposit taken when you book. A 25 per cent deposit is required on booking with the balance due eight weeks before arrival. Cancellations less than 56 days before arrival receive a 50 per cent refund. No refunds if your cancellation is 36 days before arrival.
  • Also The chalet is in the town centre, which is great for sampling Chamonix’s après-ski. There is some traffic noise but the apartment is very well sound-proofed.

Floor plan

  • The bright and spacious interior is dominated by light pine, natural materials and rustic styling, which creates a warm and cosy atmosphere. The bedrooms are decorated with vintage ski posters and all have flat-screen TV and DVD players.
  • Bedrooms

    Bedroom 1: This is the master bedroom and has an en suite bathroom. There’s also a flat-screen TV with DVD player in the room.
    Bedroom 2: This double or twin bedroom is the smallest room and shares a bathroom with the third bedroom.
    Bedroom 3: This spacious double room shares a bathroom with Bedroom 2.

  • Kitchen The kitchen is fully equipped so if you hire the apartment on a self-catering basis you have everything you need, including a halogen hob, microwave and coffee machine. The rough-hewn sink and the work surfaces are all local granite. There’s an extensive wine cellar with an excellent selection of a la carte wines to choose from.
  • Living room Deep, leather sofas, comfortable armchairs, a huge plasma screen TV with a full Sky package and a collection of DVDs. There’s also a games cupboard to keep you entertained, as well as a CD player with a selection of discs.
  • Dining room The dining table is next to the open-plan kitchen and the stone fireplace. It comfortably seats all six guests. There’s access out onto the balcony that has views up to the Aiguille du Midi.
  • Gardens There’s a small, secure garden. Being in the town centre it’s not particularly peaceful, but it’s a great place for children to play.
  • Private parking The apartment has two parking spaces right outside.

Eating and drinking

The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen and if you are self-catering your hosts can do a food shop for you. The fireside dining table comfortably seats all six guests. Whichever package you choose you enjoy a Champagne reception, but guests choosing a fully catered package get a chef who prepares breakfast, afternoon tea, canapés and a four-course gourmet dinner with wine. Fully-catered guests also have an open bar and wine cellar. Supermarket: Chamonix doesn’t have any large hypermarkets but there are Casino supermarkets on Rue Paccard and in Gallerie Alpina. There’s a Supermarche U on Rue Joseph Vallot (Monday to Saturday: 8.15am–7.30pm; Sunday: 8.30am–12am). Off license: As well as the supermarkets, Le Vinophile at 278 Rue du Docteur Paccard (+33 (0)6 08 37 49 19) has a wide selection of wines and will deliver to the apartment. Entertainment

There’s a CD player with a selection of discs in the sitting room. Even if you book Apartment Angelina on a self-catering basis there is a resort concierge that can help arrange activities for you and provides a shopping service. If you hire the apartment on a catered basis then you also have the benefits of a chalet chef, a chauffeur and private transfers to Geneva airport. Meals are tailor-made to your preferences and you are consulted on menus prior to arrival. Children’s menus can also be provided. The concierge can also recommend and book the best local restaurants.

Bed linen, towels, toiletries, bathrobes, Champagne reception and in-resort concierge service. If you choose the fully-catered package you also have your own chef, chauffeur and private transfers to Geneva airport.

Packing tips

Chamonix is less about posing on the slopes and more about pitting yourself against the mountains. Bring crampons, ice-axes and snow goggles to fit in with the extreme sports junkies in town.
