Ricky Wilson

Crowd-surfing lead singer

Somebody once sang ‘Oh my God I can’t believe it, I’ve never been this far away from home’. It was Ricky. And although those lyrics were mostly written in a terraced house in Leeds, he has since been catapulted around the world as lead singer of the Kaiser Chiefs experiencing the highs and lows of touring accommodation. ‘I’m quite particular about where I stay too,’ says Ricky. ‘My reputation for complaining on one particular tour earned me the nickname Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen as I was always changing rooms.’ He may be a bona fide rock star, but he’s never trashed a hotel room – ‘And I hope I’ll never feel the need to, not even in print.’
