Fiona Gruber

Wandering wordsmith

Hailing originally from the UK, Fiona is a journalist, broadcaster and writer based in Melbourne. She is struggling to finish a biography of Australia's first female gold miner and, for relaxation, runs Gert's Sunday Salon, a monthly cabaret club for trashy bohemians and serious wage-earners. Fiona's dream holiday involves a rocky Mediterranean cove, a classical ruin or two and a classy companion with lots of energy. Her favourite Australian destination is a small hut called Coolumbooka, a hide-out beside the rushing Buffalo River in upstate Victoria. She manages several holidays a year, although often disengenuously refers to them as work or retreats.
