We were only there for one night. We experienced a problem in the bathroom and Alice the hotel manager couldn't have been more supportive or helpful. She was truly great and our stay went perfectly. My son and I ate in the brasserie and I had the braised pork cheeks which were honestly out of this world. My son had the octopus for a starter and loved it. My only observation would be that they need one more member of staff in the dining area – you can be left waiting for a while. I think this hotel is a gem and in a great location.

What a fabulous stay we had last weekend. The hotel was amazing, the suite was modern and fresh, and the complimentary bottle of wine was thoroughly enjoyed on the terrace of our room. Thank you to Victoria for arranging tickets through the hotel to Les Miserables, a short walk along Piccadilly from our hotel to the theatre. Upon our return, we stopped in the hotel bar and chose a 'nightcap' from the vast array of choice. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel for its location and the top quality service we enjoyed. Two nights was definitely not long enough, we'll be back.

Stayed at St James’s in August 2011. Fantastic bed, bathroom great and Wi-Fi really quick. Had lunch, really nice, no kettle in rooms. Everyone was very polite and helpful. In a great area, we had booked a show in the playhouse, a lovely stroll, about 15 minutes back. Saw dreamcoats and pettycoats – brillant. Ate in a fish restaurant in Corintha Hotel, directly opposite theatre; wine expensive but fish excellent, what a wonderful stay we had.

Patisserie Valerie is just a two minute walk from St James's (162 Piccadilly). This french-style cafe is a great option for a late breakfast/brunch if you get up too late for breakfast in the hotel or prefer a cheaper option. There is a fantastic range of cakes and pastries as well as savoury and healthier options and the coffee is delicious!

All I can say is that the bartender is an exceptional martini maker – my husband claims his cocktail was the best gin martini he had ever had. My cosmopolitan wasn't bad either! Rooms are lovely and we had an extremely comfortable bed. On the downside, our room was very hot, even with the air conditioning on; way too hot and the windows didn't open wide enough to get the cool air through.

From the moment I stepped out of the taxi the staff were extremely efficient, helpful and always greeted you with a smile. Throughout our stay they couldn’t do enough to help us when we needed anything, and they were always friendly no matter how insignificant our request may have been.
I booked the hotel through Mr & Mrs Smith. I arrived at 8.30am after a night flight from Johannesburg, on arrival they told me that there was a mistake with my booking as the hotel was ‘full’. So they offered me a free upgrade to the Terrace Suite, this was only available as it can only be booked for a Friday and Saturday night stay. Even better, it meant my room was available straight away.
After being closed for 18 months to undergo a complete restoration, St James’s Hotel & Club reopened their doors last September. Each of the 60 guest rooms and suites are finished to the highest of standards and incorporate modern technology, giving the guest the feeling of grandeur. The Terrace Suite includes a comfortable lounge area, minibar, iPod docking station, walk-in wardrobe, Jacuzzi bath, steam room, DVD Players and flatscreen TVs.
The hotel’s Andaman bar offers a comfortable place to enjoy a traditional English afternoon tea, whilst escape the busy West End. In the evening the bar is a is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the vibrant, stylish surroundings whilst sampling a St James's signature cocktail.
The breakfast menu was a mouthwateringly brilliant read. The Continental breakfast consists of everything you could possibly dream of having, the only thing it lacks is a wide choice of fresh fruit. The Full English breakfast uses both local and organic produce. For those that want something a little different to your usual hotel offerings, there is the St. James’s A-la Carte Breakfast, with offerings such as eggs benedict, kedgeree with smoked haddock, and traditional Scottish porridge to name but a few.
The only negative about this hotel is the valet parking at a steep £58.00 for 24 hours.
