The Guestbook

Beautiful rooms. Great bar for a cocktail with atmosphere, and breakfast was delicious with good coffee. Location is perfect. We tramped everywhere - the endless choice of eateries in Frith and Greek Streets at your doorstep, to Thai, Indian and a brilliant French patisserie in Wardour Street which was great for dinner also, to Floral Street in Covent Garden to Leicester Square and Jermyn Street in St James's. There are pubs on each corner with great atmosphere and good local fare. Travel down Burlington Arcade for the coolest Jeffery West mens' shoes, and of course up to Carnaby Street and Kingly Court. Only two train stops away, a morning spent at St Paul's Cathedral is a must with a short walk across the Thames over the Millennium Bridge to the Tate Modern and then a scenic walk along the river for lunch at Borough Market - arrive hungry, it's fabulous. A real highlight for us was a day trip out of the city by train to Richmond for a superb lunch at Petersham Nurseries Cafe. A treat. We loved it.

Love this hotel. Everyone there is always helpful and nothing is too much trouble. I remarked upon leaving that I was sad not to see their bumper pack of cool pencils in the room as I normally take them as they look wicked in the office. Just before my cab picked me up, one of the concierge team came running up and handed me a box, bless him.

I booked two nights at the Soho Hotel for my partner and I. Having previously lived in London for 10 years I moved back to Australia two years ago. I was really looking forward to the experience as I'd heard so much about the place. It was a special occasion as it was my partner's first time to London and to Europe in fact. We loved the boutiqueness of this hotel and the room was fantastic: HUGE gorgeous bed, very spacious bathroom and massive floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking a little lane which was off bustling Wardour St. It felt like we were right amongst it but still so private. Not long after settling into our room we received a beautiful bottle of chilled champagne served with the most delicious olives. This was a really nice touch and a lovely surprise for my partner. On Sunday we went to Princi in Wardour St for breakfast: amazing selection of delectable food, although the service was a little off, think we were unlucky to get a guy who didn't seem to enjoy his job at all. I'd then arranged for us to have afternoon tea with a movie in the hotel cinema which was just lovely, the quality of the food etc was divine.

I love the Soho Hotel and it’s always nice to receive the benefits of being a Mr & Mrs Smith member. The upgrade AND complimentary bottle of Champagne were not expected but were nice, as was the 'welcome back' upon checking in. This time I had a lazy evening. A massage in my room, which was fabulous (thank you Lisa), a great monk fish supper with a glass of wine and an oh so comfy bed, zzzzzz.

We absolutely loved everything about our stay in Soho Hotel, from the moment we were greeted on arrival to discovering our fabulous room, to the lounges and honesty bar and the fabulous breakfasts in the restaurant. The service was exceptional. The Miller Harris toiletries are a treat and if you venture to the Miller Harris store in Covent Garden, you will be further treated to a 10% discount on all products in store. We also discovered an excellent coffee shop just around the corner, Milkbar at 3 Bateman Street, Soho. Duck out the back door of the restaurant and into Wardough Street, where there are some fabulous and very reasonably priced restaurants. It is also a much quicker route to the shops on Oxford and Regent Streets.

Hix on Brewer Street is a great dinner choice when staying at the Soho Hotel. After your meal head downstairs for a relaxed drink in the comfortable Mark's bar.

If you're planning a weekend break here, don't forget to make travel plans that allow you to take advantage of the Sunday Screening Club. We booked our return train too early to enjoy the fabulous Sunday lunch, followed by a film in their private screening room. Films usually finish around 6pm. We'll definitely bear this in mind next time we stay here!

The hotel concierge recommended a restaurant round the corner in the heart of Soho called Inamo, on Wardour Street, when we said we wanted to eat Asian/Oriental food nearby at a budget of c.£30-40 per head for the two of us. Inamo (+44 (0)207 851 7051) offers modern eclectic Asian fusion with Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese influences/dishes. The concept of the restaurant is very modern and works well - we were shown to our table in a little underground den part of the restaurant making you feel like part of an exclusive club, we were sat right next to a group of four on the same table but didn't feel intrusive or intruded upon. The waitress shows you how to order your food yourself when you're ready, using a touch-sensitive pad on the table top (the menu appears in the lit-up table in front of you!). While waiting for the food you can play battleships on the table top or change the pattern on the table (or – a novel idea – have a conversation!), we were told the food normally takes 20 minutes from ordering and to order at the same time to avoid our food coming out separately. However, the food was well-timed and we didn't feel we had waited at all. Side dishes and drinks ordered were brought down relatively promptly and the food was fantastic. I had chicken 'jungle' curry and stir-fried greens the husband had crispy duck pancakes and baby ribs - all were delicious, a few beers and 10% service charge (well they did bring the food down for us I suppose!) brought the total bill to £62 - not bad at all! You could even order your bill individually or for your group - perfect for a large group. We would, and have, definitely recommend this place for couples and groups of friends. Lovely chilled atmosphere (on a Sunday night when we went at least), reasonable prices, cool concept and lovely food - with a very short walk back to The Soho Hotel. Perfect.

The most perfect place to stay – relaxed, stylish and oh so chic. The staff were friendly but relaxed. A perfect anniversary celebration.

We had a wonderful stay at  Soho Hotel. The cocktails in the bar were excellent. We only used room service but I can highly recommend the Soho burger – it was fabulous. Service was also extremely good. We will definitely return.

We were unsure where to meet friends, and were not disappointed when we discovered Soho Thai (+1 20 7287 2000) – food deliciously authentic and a great evening had by all.

Only a 5 min walk away on Old Compton St is Cafe Boheme - a very relaxed french bistro. A great place for a bite to eat, a coffee or fun to sit at the bar and soak up the atmosphere over a drink.

My husband and I needed a short break away before the schools went back after the summer break. I thought London might prove to be just what we needed. Arriving at the Soho Hotel was a shock. In the heart of the bustling area of Soho, down a little lane, was the hotel. The exterior did not prepare us for the luxury of the interior. We were greeted warmly and passed the bar which was buzzing with people. We were shown to our room which was spacious and quiet as I had requested, so as not to be awaken by late-night revellers. We walked down the lane and straight in front of us was a restaurant called Lazeez – we had a delicious cocktail upstairs before being shown to our table downstairs. It was a Thursday evening and the restaurant was by no means full. We had the choice of where we would like to sit. We chose a cosy table with a sofa like area and lots of cushions. The restaurant was Pakistani and the starters were absolutely delicious, we chose the starter platter and the tastes were so different and interesting. For mains, I had the vegetarian platter (even though I am not vegetarian), and my husband had the lamb biryani. He hoarded this to himself and I thought the four different little dishes that made up the vegetarian platter was divine. We had a coffee and my husband had a mojito to finish dinner. We were so overcome by the flavours that we had no room for desert. Definitely the place to go for dinner if you like Asian food.

We went to a great club night called Shake, Rattle and Bowl, run by Bob Stanley (ex-St Etienne), which is on monthly in Tavistock Square in the basement of a hotel. Soho Hotel was excellent; we had a meal in Gary Rhodes W1 which was very average – should have stayed nearer to hotel with loads of top restaurants around the corner.

Complimentary champagne went down a treat...

If you know someone who knows someone, then I can 100% recommend the new Paramount Club on the 32nd floor of Centre Point which is only a couple of minutes walk from the Soho Hotel. It is a members-only bar, which is why you need to know the right people, but the view is amazing on the right night and the food is pretty good too!
